Colourful and absorbing, the
Middle Eastern Dance Festival will be bringing the sights and sounds of exotic Arabia to Australia.
The
history of Australia's most popular belly dancing showcase dates back to 1991, and from humble beginnings it has grown and grown and grown, to the extent that it now attracts performers from all over Australia and the world.
It is unsurprising, then, that this year's
program is so packed with excitement that it has to be spread over five
venues.
Highlights include a thrilling dance party called the
Night Boat to Cairo and an atmospheric concert known as the
Souk in Sydney, as well as the bellydancing and shopping extravaganza that is
Festival Follies.
What makes the festival so great is that it is not just the professionals who get to perform – visitors are also encouraged to have a go. With that in mind, there will be 29 bellydancing and drumming
workshops where you can shake yourself silly.
