
A churro is a crunchy fried pastry that is similar to a doughnut and is eaten widely in South America, often for breakfast or as a snack during the day. Serve warm for the best result.
250 ml Milk
100g Unsalted Butter
1 tbs Castor Sugar
125g Flour
3 Egg Yolks
2 Vanilla beans (split and deseeded)
Vegetable Oil for frying
In a pot, bring to the boil the milk, sugar, butter and vanilla beans.
Sift in the flour and mix to a dough consistency.
Add egg yolks to dough one at a time.
Pour dough into pipping bags with a star nozzle.
Pipe into vegetable oil at 180 degrees.
Fry till golden brown and then set aside on paper towel to dry off any excess oil.
Dust generously in castor sugar.
