My friend and I wanted to hit the Boxing Day sales at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre , but where possible, we wanted to avoid the Boxing Day crowds. So after driving around the car park maze for 30mins we were in no mood for the throngs of people lining up to grab a bite to eat from the food court. Luckily came to our rescue. Hidden just outside the south facing external door we found a private oasis for shoppers in need of a meal.

I think that shoppers must assume that this fancy venue has fancy prices, which is why it was so pleasantly quiet during our visit, but its scrumptious delights were well within my limited budget. I loved that The Mero offered us such wonderful peace and quiet without having to pay through the nose.

After the lovely blue-clad ladies seated us, we took a quick browse at their varying menu and I ordered my go-to main, whilst my shopping buddy ordered three entrees instead. During our short wait we both took in the surrounds; a clean and crisp environment with enough greenery and wooden decor to make you feel comfortable. I am also in love with their bright cushions (and may or may not have asked where they were purchased).

My beef burger and chips were delicious and after two mouthfuls I was ready to write a gushing review, however then the arancini balls arrived, and suddenly my burger seemed normal, regular... fine. The arancini balls were filled with the ever-sought after truffles and were little mouthfuls of pure delight. I have tasted a number of these gorgeous bite-size meals at multiple restaurants however nothing I've consumed before has come close to those at this location. Of course I finished my scrumptious burger but if I ever go back I will be ordering two plates of arancini balls all to myself. And as $12 gets you a plate of 5, it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

My shopping buddy was quite delighted with the rest of her meal; eating things I didn't even know restaurants served. She enjoyed her roasted bone marrow on bread, and a plate of wacky bites such as smoked tuna, quail egg and squid ink. Yes. Squid ink. Until this day I didn't realize it was possible to eat squid ink. I've tried it now and it tastes fine, but nothing compares to those magnificent arancini balls.

So next time you are at Indooroopilly and you are feeling a little overwhelmed by the bustling shopping center and need an escape from the magnitude of people, step outside and enjoy a wonderful meal at . Enjoy the quiet, enjoy the peace and definitely enjoy the arancini balls.
