You don't have to go to Venice (even though we all wish we could), to pick up a beautiful Venetian mask. On the corner of the Italian Forum entrance The Merchant of Venice (named after the Shakespearean play), has a shop front filled with rows and rows of masks, Morano glass rings, necklaces and more.

Mrs Theresa Saraceno, whose Italian accent was as adorable as her welcoming smile was working a shift for her daughter and owner Maria. She told me that they have been selling these masks in Leichhardt for over 13 years while she happily modelled a mask for me.

A puppet of Puss in Boots hung from the ceiling with many masks lined in a row underneath it, behind it and pretty much everywhere.

There truly is barely a finger space anywhere in the shop, it is wall to wall, ceiling to floor filled with masks and accessories. The most amazing colours, styles and designs to fit in with just about every occasion.

There is no need to look far when you have a masquerade ball. Don't go past The Merchant of Venice to make sure you have the right mask for the right outfit.
