Make sure you've got your reading glasses on, because we're looking for Melbourne's best libraries. Whether you're studying and searching for resources, just trying to find some weekend reading, or looking to socialise with your bub, libraries all over Melbourne have solutions. We want to know your opinions on where Melbourne's best libraries can be found, so fill us in.

The gorgeous building of the State Library of Victoria, is also filled with many gorgeous books. Whether you're sitting back in one of their reading rooms, or enjoying a book on the lawns outside, everything about this place fosters a love of books and reading. As well as plenty of books and resources, the library also organises activities for kids, workshops, talks, and more. It might be your favourite because of what is contained within its walls, or you may just love soaking up the atmosphere and history of the building.

Libraries don't have to be big to be great. There are plenty of smaller libraries that cater to all their local communities needs. Some great library initiatives include things like toy libraries and story time, which give parents more options and choice for their kids. Libraries are also known for free sports gear hire, so that people can get active without having to spend too much money. Then of course there is also the fact that libraries provide internet access for people who don't have it at home.

There are times when you're after research rather than facilities, and University libraries can be the best place to start. While they are designed for university students, their book facilities are open to the public. The collection may not be great when you're looking for a fiction read, but you can find books on just about every topic from the environment, to cinema, to law. Perhaps you prefer kicking back in a university library in increasing your knowledge.

So let us know your favourite library. Do you love it because you're always finding new books to read? Or do you take advantage of all of the great resources on offer? If you know a great library around Melbourne, make sure you tell us all about it.

Obviously The State Library of Victoria. It is world class and is expanding its facilities and attractions allthe time.
For local libraries, the Hawthorn library would surely be hard to beat.

Although I live in Berwick, I have library memberships in four municipalities. I have two children aged 10 and 17 years with a rather diverse liking of books between us. I find Vermont South Library a great library. What it lacks in size it makes up for in its vast range of fiction and reference books. It has a small cosey childrens area and a different quiet room for study filled with the best reference materials. There is also a great selection of dvds(especially old ones) and always a selection of books on sale for a bragain price 50 c - $1.
What are you waiting for......it's too good to miss. Elke Raselli (Berwick)
