Autumn is often the least loved month, it is not quite winter, not quite summer, and a lot of the time it just rains. We reckon that autumn can get a bit of a bad wrap, because there are actually lots of fun things to do during these months. There is more to autumn than jumping in leaves
Obviously in Melbourne it is hard to look past the
AFL. Melbourne is home to one of Australia's favourite sporting pastimes, and during autumn you'll get the chance to go see plenty of games. Half of the fun is bringing along your poncho, and cheering on your favourite team during the sometimes dreary weather. While winter sees the finals, during autumn you never know what the outcome will be, and this just adds to the excitement of seeing Australia's sporting stars in action.
If you don't like being outdoors, then why not head indoors, because autumn in Melbourne is the perfect time to get some serious movie watching done. Why not head along to the
IMAX Theatre at the
Melbourne Museum where you can watch some of the latest films on the world's third largest screen. As well as watching the latest blockbusters you'll also get to see some awe-inspiring documentaries that take full advantage of the 3D screen. IMAX isn't your only option, because there are plenty of
other great cinemas all over Melbourne to help pass those autumn days.
Autumn also sees a great event on Melbourne's social calendar, the
Melbourne International Comedy Festival. With some of the top names in Australian comedy as well as all of the big international acts, the festival is always a riot. This is probably the biggest event on Australia's comedy circuit, and it really helps autumn shine.
