Melbourne's biggest Latin dance event is back for its fifth year, promising to be more exciting and spectacular than ever before. The festival will run from the 5th to the 7th of April, featuring a myriad of exotic dance, music and workshops each day.

Friday the 5th of April presents a Bachata workshop with USA dancer, Mariano Neris. Four hours of hip swinging and delicate footwork, and then you could be dancing on stage as one of the festival performers. Either way, this energetic dance, originated from the Dominican Republic, is sure to be a great workout, and a whole lot of fun.

Saturday night opens the festival officially, with an exciting gala performance. Doors open at 7:30 for an exhilarating show, followed by a party until 2am. The party will include three separate rooms, each containing a different style of music: salsa, bachata and zouk . Feel free to weave throughout the rooms, dancing to your hearts desire. There will be a number of both national and international DJs, as well as Victorian band, 'The Quarter Street Orchestra' The Latin styled ensemble is back after large success at the festival in previous years.

The theme for this year's gala is Arabian nights - so prepare to be enchanted.

The festival will be showcasing over 150 wild and wonderful dancers. The three day event hosts over 40 workshops, suitable for the novice dancer to the professional.

Dancers come from all across the globe to take part in the Melbourne Latin Festival. If you think you've got what it takes, their workshops could have you dancing with some of the best salsa performers in the country. If dancing isn't your style, there are a number of performances and parties you're sure to enjoy.
