Annual Melbourne Garden Extravaganza
It's that time of the year again when the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show takes over the Royal Exhibition Building and adjacent Carlton Gardens to tantalize garden lovers from around the country with its award winning floral displays, landscaped show gardens, floral design workshops and exhibitions of achievable gardens.

This annual 'green thumbed' gala will run from Wednesday 29th March to Sunday 2nd April and is rightfully recognised as the largest and most popular horticultural event in the Sothern Hemisphere and one of the Top 5 flower & garden shows in the world.
In 2017 the Carlton Gardens will again showcase the work of talented local and international designers competing head to head to create stunning and memorable display gardens.
For the 5-days of the show the historic Exhibition Building will be transformed into the Great Hall of Flowers and also host the RMIT Floral Fashion exhibit.
For Mr & Mrs Melbourne one of the real features of the show is likely to be the Avenue of Achievable Gardens, a competition which allows students and schools & colleges to showcase their skills in creating garden designs actually achievable by the home gardener.
The competition is a one-stop shop covering concept, design, project coordination and construction of the garden.
Whether you need ideas or advice on a work in progress garden project .....
..... help with basics such as irrigation ...
..... or a little help with nature and propagation, you'll find it all at the 2017 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Photo's: Ian Gill / Footloose PhotoBank
