Summer is officially over and the days in Melbourne are getting shorter. As the memories of summer holidays and beaches start to fade, things can start looking a little gloomy. Luckily for those hit with the autumn blues or for anyone who can't remember the last time they had a good belly laugh, the
Melbourne International Comedy Festival is rolling into town again.
Running from the 24th March to 18th April the Comedy Festival will bring together some of the funniest people from around the world to perform in stand-up, theatre, cabaret and even street performances. Now one of the top three largest comedy festivals in the world, it's not surprising that the program is bursting with home-grown talent, international comedy stars and new names just starting out.
The festival still offers plenty of cheap laughs, with the average ticket price being around $24. Events are held in various venues around Melbourne, from the
Town Hall to the
Arts Centre. Many popular shows sell out quickly do it's a good idea to buy tickets in advance, either
online or through Ticketek.
The Gala is the festival's most popular event with tickets usually selling out within hours, however if you want to secure tickets for next year be sure to sign up for the
mailing list to keep up to date with events So whether it's slapstick or satire that makes you giggle there won't be many straight faces left in Melbourne.
