Filled with live entertainment, forums, industry seminars, retail events, beauty workshops and more, the production is state-of-the-art. Check the website to glean all information. The official program has hit the streets, and you can get your free copy in the CBD, inner suburbs the Melbourne Visitor Centre, Chapel and Brunswick street and Chadstone. It'll also be available online on Friday 10 Feb.

Browsing all events has been made very user-friendly online. You have the option of browsing by categories or dates. Coming up with an itinerary has never been easier. Trying to attend every single event may prove a bit of a challenge, with so many great ones to choose from.

Whet your appetite for the big events with some of the freebies. The Festival's first Fashion Weekend on Sat 4 and Sun 5 March sees the launch of the autumn/winter fashion season. The City of Stonnington's most stylish stores that include Chapel Street, Chadstone Shopping Centre, High Street, Toorak Road, Toorak Village, Glenferrie Road and Malvern Central will have some exclusive offers and activities for the fashion conscious.

Interested in the new era of fashion and how the geological era has implications for design, textiles, art and fashion disciplines? Then Anthropocene, another free event, may be for you. Why not go back to the 60s and see Madame Serini's full-length, salmon pink cape with gold thread and a black velvet kaftan. A designer in the 60s & 70s, go back in time with this Italian immigrant designer and dressmaker.

Ever heard of Deshilado? Now you can find out about this exquisite and lively collection of drawn thread work. When you want a little break from the rounds of fashion events, you can pull up a deck chair and grab a drink and a bucket of free popcorn and watch a screening of the best Australian and International Fashion Film Series entries, along with category winners of the Aussie Fashion Film Awards at Fed Square.

If you already subscribe to Soxy Beast, here's your chance to see their socks at Soxhibition. Sporting bold sock designs in collaboration with artists, subscribers are delivered socks every month. Made in Melbourne, it supports Australian charities.

All of the above mentioned freebie events are but a small drop in the sea of this Festival, and only just scratches the surface. There's a whole lot more to select from, with many offering gift vouchers, specials, and such like. Add to it all of the other main events and you have an awesome Festival to look forward to.

If you get a little tired from walking more than the runway models from event to event, there are Eat, Drink, Play & Stay events to look forward to at the Festival Bar, the 6FT6 Wine Garden and more. They are socials hubs where you can relax with red carpet arrivals, food and drink pop-ups, beauty and pampering, live entertainment and so on.

With so much going on at the Festival, I suggest you get busy picking out your favourites, as it's going to take a whole lot of browsing to cover all the great events for 2017.
