Farmers' markets are becoming more and more popular as people are more conscious about the food they eat, and more specifically where it actually comes from. Many of Melbourne's farmers' markets do not sell just fruit and vegetables and organic produce. The best farmers' markets provide ample space for people to catch up, and make way for great social connections from one family to another, and are also known as being a popular hang out spot for dogs. If you can find a farmers' market that is family, food and dog friendly, then you are in luck.
One of (if not my) favourite farmers' market in Melbourne would have to be the farmers' market at Albert Park Gasworks, held on the third Saturday of every month as part of the
Melbourne Community Farmers' Markets.
This farmers' market is definitely food, family and dog friendly. Despite Melbourne's weather, there is always a huge turnout of locals. It would be even better if this farmers' market was held every weekend, instead of just monthly. Expect to be able to buy beautiful sourdough bread, organic green tea and other delicate food items. You might be forgiven for thinking that you are at a top organic food exhibition; move over Thomas Dux.
What do you think? Where is Melbourne's best farmers' market, and why? Looking forward to a great farmers' market discussion on this.
