The Christmas tree of Melbourne can be found in
City Square, located near to Brunetti's al-fresco cafe, and behind the cascading water wall.

Brunetti's is a popular cafe to sip a quick espresso or order a take-away cafe latte.

The pine tree stands decorated with flashing Christmas lights and a shining star atop a base complete with gift-wrapped boxes.
Santa Claus or Father Christmas in the City
From the 3rd to the 24th December, Santa Claus will be visiting the Christmas tree display.
On this one night of December, a group of activists called the Refugee Action Collective were lighting a candle for each of the Asylum Seekers held in Australian detention centres.
That is about 6000 candles.

Nearby in Federation Square, 150 Christmas trees overlook the large screen.
The trees are made of plastic.

For people that want to sit-down and enjoy a picnic, there are small circles of red carpet laid beneath some of the trees. There are also sun chairs.

Or, why not grab a table al-fresco (in the fresh air) and just enjoy the Christmas scenery.
