Mee Goreng Recipe

Mee means noodles and Goreng means fry. Mee Goreng are yellow noodles fried with onions and vegetables made into a spicy mouthwatering dish. This is a very popular dish in South Asia. It can be eaten as a snack or as a meal with other side dishes.

Ingredients

1kg Fresh Yellow Noodles(Tangs Brand preferably)
1packet of bean sprouts
2 cubes of fresh hard tofu
1bunch of Bak Choy or Spinach
2 leaves of Cabbage
2 onions chopped
2 tomatoes chopped
2 -3 cloves of garlic chopped
1 potato cut into cubes and boiled till semi-soft.
cup of frozen green peas
2 tablespoons of curry powder(can adjust to your taste)
4 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
oil for cooking


For a non-vegetarian option
2 eggs
a handful of prawns


For Garnishing
1 cucumber cut into triangles
1 lime or lemon cut into wedges
1 red chilli chopped
tomato sauce for serving

Serves-4-5 people
Cooking time-20 minutes


Method
Wash and cut the spinach and cabbage into 1 inch sized squares.

Cut the tofu into small cubes. Heat oil in a large pan and add the onions and garlic and cook till golden brown.

Add the tofu, tomatoes and potatoes and cook for another few minutes with 2 tablespoons of the soy sauce.

Add the spinach, cabbage and green peas and cook till the leaves are tender.

Add the noodles, bean sprouts, curry powder, salt and remaining of the soy sauce.

Cover and cook till the noodles are coated with the sauce and soft.

For the non-vegetarian option add the prawns with the other vegetables.

Cook the eggs into scrambled eggs in a different pan and mix it into the mee goreng when it is cooked.

Garnish with cut cucumber, chillies and lemon.
