It's the new year and time for another listing of those fairs, fayres, carnivals and other festivities that celebrate the medieval (or similar themes).

If you haven't previously attended such a festival, they are a treat. To give you an idea of what is on offer, the festivals vary in terms of their size and focus however there are usually a wide range of spectacular activities and events to enjoy. Historical re-enactors, Medieval pageantry, jousting, battles, music, dancing, feasting, artistry and crafts are customary and many of the festivals feature medieval villages and vendors of medieval style goods.
