is a great place for the whole family. Situated high up on Vorges Road, Whiteside, overlooks the beautiful Lake Samsonvale , a reservoir of water formed by the North Pine Dam , which is located on the North Pine River , 5kms upstream from the town of Petrie in the Moreton Bay Regional Council . can be discovered between Old Petrie Town , home to the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum and the North Pine Country Markets , and the picturesque country town of Dayboro .

boasts two good-sized playgrounds (one under a shade cover), barbeque facilities, gazebo-style dining, a toilet block that also serves as a look-out point, ample car parking, line fishing prospects (for those who hold a stocked impoundment permit ), and of course the view. With a number of barbeque and seating facilities, McGavin view has the capacity to accommodate multiple families at the one time, making for the possibility of a big day out.

Take advantage of the facilities available at to host your next family barbeque. Bring the steak and sausages, salad and buns and make your own hamburgers. If you're not a fan of barbeques or gazebo-style dining (I can't see why not), or are just planning a romantic day for two, pack yourselves a picnic basket (with pre-cooked meals of course), blankets, relax and enjoy the view.

The two playgrounds at are sure to excite the littlies. The first playground is directly in front of the barbeque and seating area, close to parking and the toilet block, so that parents can keep an eye out for their little ones while chatting and cooking up a storm. This playground isn't under-cover so children must be wearing their hats and sunscreen at all times. The second playground is closer to the entrance of (making it further away from the dining area than the first) but is fully covered by a large shade-cloth. Neither of the playgrounds are fenced.

Between them the playgrounds feature swings, slides, seesaws, climbing frames, monkey bars, forts and balancing obstacles. The ground of the play areas are layered with bark.

Lake Samsonvale, the lake that overlooks, is an important source of water for residents of the Moreton Bay Region. The North Pine Dam, constructed in 1976, is owned by the Queensland Bulk Water Supply Authority, trading as SEQ Water . Public access to Lake Samsonvale is confined to three designated recreation areas: at Whiteside, Bullocky Rest in Joyner and Forgan Cove, Joyner.

Lake Samsonvale has been stocked with native fish since 1991 and provides great recreational fishing opportunities. Native species of fish that have been stocked into the lake are the Australian Bass, Yellow Bellow (Golden Perch), Mary River Cod, Snub Nose Gar and Saratoga. To fish in Lake Samsonvale you must hold a current stocked impoundment permit.
