This sell-out show has been running in Sydney since April. Some of my southern friends have already seen it. They say it is incredible and the choreography is unbelievable, especially the Supercalifragilistic dance number. I am so jealous!
The Sydney show will wrap up on December 17th. After a short break, Mary Poppins will open at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC on December 30th. Although some of the cast will be leaving the show after Sydney, Matt Lee (So You Think You Can Dance), will still be playing Bert.

Mary Poppins was actually a series of children's books written by Australian P.L.Travers (born in Maryborough, Queensland) about a magical flying nanny who comes to work for an unhappy banker and his family.
In 1964 Walt Disney made it into a musical film, Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. It was a huge success winning five Academy Awards and thirteen nominations. I have fond memories of watching it as a child with my family.
It was adapted for stage and had its West End début in 2004 and then Broadway in 2006. The rest, as they say, is history.
I can't wait to share the magic with my daughters when we see it in February.
