If you're short on cooking skills, this is the recipe for you. It is very budget friendly too when strawberries are in season. Try and buy the small ones rather than the jumbo size which can be a bit short on flavour sometimes. No name cranberry sauce is fine too.
Easiest 3 ingredient dessert
.
Marinated strawberries
Two 500g punnets of strawberries
220 g jar of cranberry sauce
1 tablespoon of either brandy or butterscotch schnapps
(Orange juice for a non-alcoholic version)
1) Wash strawberries, leaving hulls on. Drain or pat dry. Remove hulls. Place in pretty glass bowl.
2) Heat the cranberry sauce up gently on a low heat. Add the alcohol or juice. Remove from heat.
3) Sieve the mixture to remove lumps. Or not. I've made this heaps of times and usually skip the sieving. Pour over strawberries and mix through. Place in fridge.
Make this in the morning to serve for a dinner dessert. If you can't wait, leave marinating for a minimum of 2 hours. The longer you leave it the better, to allow the strawberry juices to mix with the cranberry sauce.
Serve with a really good quality ice-cream.
Bon appetit.
