It's Saturday morning and you're on your way to the markets to pick up the usual items – organic meat, homemade chutney, second hand books and a new boat. If this sounds like you, then set a course for the
Marina Boardwalk Markets.
The Marina Boardwalk Markets take place every Saturday from 8.00am until 2.00pm at
Meridien Marinas Horizon Shores (
Cabbage Tree Point Road, Woongoolba). These markets are the same as any other weekly weekend market except for one important aspect – they have a decidedly nautical twist.
On sale at the Boardwalk Markets is the usual market fare – fresh food, artwork, homemade conserves and new and pre-loved clothing – as well as a range of marine related items – fresh seafood, bits and pieces for your aquatic vessel and even entire boats. There will also be food and drink stalls, children's entertainment and a sea-tow/VMR boat taking customers on a tour of the marina for a gold coin donation. Entry to the markets is free.
The boardwalk provides a large car park for cars and a courtesy wharf for small boats (contact the marina if you would like to dock a larger vessel).
Horizon Shores is that largest of the marine villages at
Meridien Marinas. If you wish to stay for the day, facilities here include a restaurant, wireless internet access, boat hire and a bait shop.
