Is there anything better than the words 'free samples'?

On my most recent expedition to Perth's stunning Swan Valley region I found myself drawn to the Margaret River Chocolate factory , courtesy of the 'free samples' sign positioned out the front. I must admit, having finally found a way to consume chocolate without paying for it was what initially attracted me to the factory, but I very quickly learnt that just a taste was not going to be enough.


Like many chocolate addicts, I've never been overly discerning about quality. Cadbury, Lindt and Nestle - they're all the same to me. I've even found myself scoffing Black and Gold cooking chocolate more times than I care to admit. Although, after sampling the smooth, creamy taste of the factory's chocolate, I've been converted to the quality stuff. Their chocolate is quite simply the best.

The Margaret River Chocolate Company has been making award-winning chocolate since 1999 and currently sells over 200 chocolate products. They also offer free tastes of their milk, white and dark chocolate buttons, making it the closest thing to heaven for chocolate lovers such as myself.

Their decadent range includes everything from hand-made truffles to rocky road, as well as sugar free chocolate which is perfect for people with diabetes or those simply trying to limit their sugar intake.


Chocolate is available in a range of flavours including favourites like macadamia and chilli and customers can watch how they're made through massive viewing windows.

The products are a little on the pricey side, but most of them are so delicious that they're worth it.

There's also a cafe that boasts the most mouth-watering selection of cakes (chocolate - of course) you will ever come across. With seating indoors, as well as outside overlooking the breath-taking gardens, it is the perfect place to enjoy a light lunch, fondue or the most delicious hot chocolate in Western Australia.



For fans of the cocoa bean, the Chocolate factory is the perfect place to indulge yourself. It's open from 9am to 5pm everyday except Christmas Day, but if the Swan Valley is too far away, don't fret, they've just opened a new store in Perth city meaning their melt-in-your-mouth goodness is never far away.
