There are two Mamak's in Sydney; I visited the one located on Goulburn Street, Chinatown. We had to get there 30 minutes before opening (5.30pm) as they don't take bookings and usually a huge queue builds up outside the door. One guy walking past asked, "Were we waiting for a bus"? There was no bus stop here!

So as you can tell, this restaurant is very popular and I can tell you why.

The service was prompt, and attentive. There is great selection of food on offer, including Roti dishes, Satay, rice/noodles and an array of colourful curries. Each fairly well priced at under $20 each, many under $15.

I have a gluten intolerance but my mind was put as ease when I chose the Nasi goreng (rice based) priced at $11.50. With an abundance of flavours and delicately cooked prawns, the dish was quite spicy. To lessen the spice, I ordered an iced milk tea (teh ais), which was a lovely refreshing compliment to the dish.

There was a slightly rushed feel about the whole experience due to it being so busy, but for a quick, cheap and scrumptious meal, it was perfect and I would defiantly visit again.
