**January
AFC Asian Cup Australia**
9-31 January
Pegged as the biggest ever football tournament and the biggest sporting event in Australia in a decade, the best 16 countries of Asia will compete for Asia's biggest sporting prize, the coveted Asian Cup. It's only held every four years so don't miss out.

White Night Australia
21 - 22 February
Melbourne CBD, Flinders Street, Melbourne
You don't need to go to Paris to experience these dusk 'til dawn free events. Cultural institutions, theatres, galleries, restaurants and bars will keep their doors open to provide music, food, film and performances all night for those who are up to it. This spectacular event runs from 7pm to 7am so get a good night sleep the day before.
Melbourne Food And Wine Festival
27 Feb - 15 Mar
Various venues around Melbourne, Swanston Street, Melbourne
Now in its 23rd year, this is the most delicious festival all year. It attracts the world's biggest culinary and wine personalities and features Victoria's own infamous chefs, restaurateurs, winemakers, and producers. Look out for the pop-up artisan bakery in the heart of the city everyday. This year the festival concludes with 1500 seated World's Longest Lunch.

Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix**
12 - 15 March
Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, Albert Rd, South Melbourne

L'oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival
14 - 22 March
Various locations around Melbourne, Central Pier, Docklands
This is the largest fashion event in Australia which invites the public to get involved in fashion and trends. For those who love fashion.

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show
25 - 29 March
Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens South, 9 Nicholson St, Carlton
This is the biggest flower and garden show will be held in the Southern Hemisphere at the World Heritage Listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens. Top gardeners and landscapers share their ideas. Sustainable and other products, such as outdoor furniture, floral art are available to purchase.
April
The WW1 Centenary Exhibition
17 Apr - 4 Oct
Melbourne Museum, 11 Nicholson Street, Carlton
This exhibition is about the war that changed the world! The exhibition will feature over 350 significant historical artifacts from the acclaimed WW1 collections of Imperial War Museums in London. This multi-sensory, collection will illuminate personal stories of war.

Melbourne International Jazz Festival**
29 May - 7 June

Just what's needed on a cold winter's night. Involving hundreds of events and musicians late-night parties, club gigs, film screenings, jazz classes and free concerts. This sounds like fun.

Melbourne International Film Festival**
30 July – 16 Aug
Festival Hub - Forum Theatre, 154 Flinders St, Melbourne
MIFF celebrates 64 years in 2015, and is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. The red carpet is literally going to be rolled out to showcase a range of new Australian and world talents.

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Brunton Ave, East Melbourne
It doesn't matter if your team got through or not, being rugged up at the AFL finals with a meat pie and hot chocolate is not to be missed. The roar of the crowds can be heard for miles.

Spring Racing Carnival**
Metropolitan courses at Flemington, Moonee Valley, Caulfield and Sandown and country race courses all over Victoria, 400 Epsom Rd, Flemington
Much more than horse racing, this carnival involves social events and a place to flirt and be fashionable.

As they say, it's a world class event that stops a nation, this is considered a major international social and cultural event. If there's one day when a new frock and hat must be bought it's this one.

Equitana Melbourne **
17 - 20 November
Melbourne Showgrounds, Epsom Road, Ascot Vale
Famous throughout the southern hemisphere, offering the largest prize pools in Australia, this event features horses, Olympic gold medallists, an elite equine competition, hundreds of exhibitors entertainment and Aussie cowboys (and you don't see that everyday!).
