Recently taken over by new owners, offers a wide range of both Australian style dishes and traditional German fare. Those looking for a quick meal need not worry as there is also a delectable range of pies, pastries and sandwiches. The bakery is notable for having the widest range of pies in the Barossa Valley. The place proved to be very popular, attracting a large crowd during the lunch hour. Families with young children seemed to prefer to tuck in on pies, pastries and sandwiches at the tables in the relaxed atmosphere of the front courtyard.

Great for sharing, the Bavarian Banquet featured a Kassler Chop, Weisswurst Sausage, Smoked Kransky and Bockwurst Sausage served with Sauerkraut, German mustard, a red cabbage salad and Bratkartoffel. Bratkartoffel is a German side dish consisting of potatoes pan-fried with bacon and onions dressed with apple cider vinegar. All the sausages had a delectable smoky flavour. The Kassler Chop was cooked just right and had a flavour somewhat similar to bacon. The various accompaniments all served to enhance the enjoyment of the dish. The sharp taste of the Sauerkraut, cabbage salad and mustard were perfect partners to the various types of meats and the Bratkartoffel had fluffy potatoes and bacon with the right degree of crispiness.

One of the items on their all day breakfast menu, their pancakes was light and fluffy and was particularly delicious when eaten along with the maple syrup and cream provided. The spiced apples topping that we chose for the pancakes were cooked to perfection with the spices subtly enhancing their flavour.

The wooden décor gave the restaurant a cosy and rustic feel with the tables spaced a good distance apart from each other. On a good weather day, the relaxed ambience of the front courtyard is another seating option. If you are looking for delicious German dishes or delectable pastries while visiting Lyndoch, consider dropping by the for a visit.
