London has some of the finest parks of any of the world's capital cities - but do we really make the most of them?
Love Parks Week, running from 24 July to 1 August, is a celebration of these green oases and hopes to raise awareness about how valuable they are to the community. Continued investment for parks is vital and by holding an event during Love Parks Week, or just by attending, you'll be doing your bit to show what it means to you and your local area.
Hundreds of special events will be taking place across the city (indeed, across the country), giving you an even better excuse than usual to visit and enjoy one of London's great green areas.
Love Parks Week, which took place in 2006, is organised by
GreenSpace, a charity working hard to improve the nation's parks.
Examples of London events include:
-
Butterfly Life Cycle Trail (£1 per child) at Bedfont Lakes Country Park,
music from the
Harrow Concert Band (free) in Golders Hill Park,
a
Latin and Salsa Night (free) at Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath,
and a
nature photography course (£60.00 for two days, £35 for one) at the WaterWorks Nature Reserve in Leyton.

Love Parks Week would love to see you in a park that week - and every week thereafter.
