The 42-hectare
London Wetlands Centre must be the best place in London to walk and watch wildlife. A typical day can include free guided tours, bird feeding (of rare ducks, geese and swans), bird watching sessions and all sorts of both fun and educational activities for children.

The
London Wetlands Centre is run by the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) and since it was opened by Sir David Attenborough in May 2000 over 180 types of bird, some not often seen in London such as bitterns and purple herons, have been spotted. Its vision has always been to provide healthy wetlands where people's lives will be enriched by learning about nature – and this certainly forms the basis of events planned for the anniversary celebrations running from 29 May to 6 June.
Highlights include: a talk from wildlife photographers
Matt and Will Burrard-Lucas, wildlife filmmaker
Paul Williams discussing some of his toughest shoots (like a giant crystal cave in Mexico) and a walk with The One Show's natural history presenter
David Lindo (the urban birder).
