It's that time of year again when central London plays host to a gathering of some of the world's best old bangers. No, I'm not talking about sausages past their sell-by date; I'm referring to the world's longest running motoring extravaganza – the
London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
The event cranks up on Saturday on Regent Street, which is closed off as around 100 of these immaculate motor vehicles, all built before 1905, go on show. Some will also be tootling about giving demonstration runs. It's a great chance to see these exquisite motors up close and chat with their proud owners.
Sunday is when it really gets into gear – the 60-mile run goes from Hyde Park to the seafront in Brighton. Around 500 lovingly restored motors will be taking part, leaving from the park in pairs from shortly before 7am till about 8.30am. They'll crawl their way to Brighton at a speed of no more than 20mph, arriving at the seafront from around 10am until late afternoon.
If you're unable to make it into central London, check to see if you're on
the route that the run takes between London and Brighton.
Car-loving celebrities often take part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, so look out - you might see someone famous!
