The
London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest running event of its kind and this year celebrates its 115th anniversary.
The 60-mile drive is a vintage vehicle extravaganza with a route going from Hyde Park in central London all the way to Madeira Drive on Brighton's seafront. Some
500 lovingly restored cars from around the world will set off early on Sunday 6th November from Hyde Park, though how many make it to Brighton is anyone's guess - these are pre-1905 vehicles, after all.
It's free to watch these fabulous automobiles from yesteryear make their way from the capital down to the south coast, so how about going along?
As a spectator, you'll need to decide whether you want to see the cars off from Hyde Park early in the morning (7am to 8.30am) or welcome them when they reach Brighton.
Of course, if you're really fanatical about vintage cars, there's nothing stopping you doing both.
The vehicles will be leaving Hyde Park every few minutes (it's a gentle run, not a race), with the first one this year - an 1894 Benz Velo - being driven by 17-year-old Oliver Wright from North Yorkshire. The cars are expected to begin trundling into Brighton from around 10am.
Alternatively, you could pick a viewing spot somewhere along the route. Popular locations include Westminster Bridge, Old Town Bridge in Croydon, the old town centre in Crawley, along the B2036 via Burgess Hill and along the A273 via Clayton Hill. Click

When the cars arrive at the seafront, they get parked up along Madeira Drive so that the crowds can enjoy taking a closer look, take some photos and chat to their owners.
The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is one of the most popular events on the capital's calendar and a testament to the skill and ingenuity of yesterday's engineers.
