London Open House

Event: 19/09/2009
One of the greatest joys of London is it's magnificent buildings, and once a year in September everyone has the chance to celebrate the capitol's architecture thanks to Open House London, a unique organisation committed to involving people in the creation of their built environment.

For one weekend hundreds of buildings across all 33 boroughs of London, from private homes to the Bank of England and the Foreign Office, are open to the public free of charge.

The variety of buildings and styles of architecture is truly dazzling and often surprising with each area having it's own history and flavour - A Gothic bath house in Bexley, Palace Wharf -originally a wharf for marble importing that's now artists' studios, in Hammersmith, and a retro-eco house in Southwark are a tiny sample of what's on offer.

London Open House is on the 19th and 20th of September and you can pick up a leaflet in a library with information on the event or order one online here.

While all have free entry some properties require you to book in advance.
