Billing itself as "the only custom car museum in Europe", the
London Motor Museum is the creation of a former male model called Elo.
Elo claims to have been collecting cars since the age of two, though one must assume that those early ones were of the miniature variety. Now he's all grown up, he's turned his attention to real ones. And quite a collection it is too.
The London Motor Museum, located in Hayes, is today home to more than 150 extraordinary cars from Europe and the States, creating a spectacle that will have even the most stoic of petrolheads frothing at the mouth in unbridled ecstasy.
The collection is more varied than a Britain's Got Talent audition event, and spans more than six decades.
You'll see, for example, a number of motors from the world of TV and movies. These include the DeLorean from Back to the Future; the Batmobile; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; and Starsky and Hutch's Ford Torino.
Other automobiles on display include a 2006 SSC Ultimate Aero TT (top speed 260mph); an awesome 2006 TKO Lamborghini; a splendid looking 1970 Dodge Challenger RT; a classic 1932 Ford Model B Roadster; a 1937 Auburn Speedster (there are only about 150 of these beauties in existence); and a limited edition Bentley convertible.
You can marvel at the collection of east coast riders ("small cars with huge wheels"); be wowed by the lowriders ("low and slow"); and go goggle-eyed at the hot rods on show.
A recent addition to the museum's collection is the supremely special ETV (Extra-Terrestrial Vehicle), a concept design (only four have been made) that has to be seen to be believed.
Make no mistake, there are a lot of flash motors here. Even those claiming to have only a passing interest in cars can't fail to be impressed by some of the beautiful designs and extraordinary machines on display at the museum.
The layout of the place is more functional than fancy; here, the cars are the fancy bit. And that's fine because they're what you go there to see.
