Get ready to 'ooh' and 'ahh' loudly and proudly at London's official New Year's Eve fireworks display. Prepare for the spectacular as not only is it the London Eye's 10th anniversary, but Boris Johnson is also very keen to prove that London is the most exciting place in the universe – good news for those who like fireworks!
The new pyrotechnic display promises something special, but you'll need to make your way down to the Thames in a timely fashion because apparently space in viewing areas along the river is limited (a bit like the loos will be too – make sure you go before you leave the pub!). You can look at
this PDF to see where they are – remember that they close once they're full!
Radio One's DJ Nihal will be mixing live beforehand to get people in the party mood. You can read more on Nihal (@therealnihal on Twitter) and his tunes of choice by visiting his section of the
BBC website.
Rather excellently, public transport in the city (tube, DLR, bus and tram services) is free from 11.45pm to 4.30am, but keep an eye out for sudden station closures. Some National Rail services will also run during the night. Go to the
Transport for London site to plan your journey. Defintely avoid driving as lots of roads will be closed – click
here for details.
If you're not up for a party in town, but still want to watch the fireworks, just put on your telly and flick to BBC One instead! But if you want to be dazzled and need to equip yourself with more knowledge about spending NYE in London town then go to Boris's
official London website.
