Little Shop of Horrors
The Little Shop of Horrors is a very entertaining little musical which has been touring the world since 1982.
It's about a nerdy florist shop worker who has a crush on a co-worker called Audrey.
"When Seymour acquires a strange and exotic plant he names it 'Audrey II' in honour of his secret love. But gradually the harmless-looking succulent morphs into a bad-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivorous monster with an insatiable appetite for flesh and blood."
It will be showing at the New Theatre on King St in Newtown from the 13 November to the 13 December 2008.
Tickets are $30 and you can get them here.
The musical is based on a low-budget 1960 black comedy The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman and is meant as a tribute to the trashy horror flick genre.
The music is written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken who worked together on a number of famous Disney films and now spend their time eating grapes out of a gold-plated venus fly trap on a Carribean island.
Here is a taste, and a little bit more.
Why? Good clean blood-soaked fun.
WHEN: 13 November - 13 December 2008
WHERE: New Theatre, Newtown
COST: $30
