Little Creatures on Brunswick St with a somewhat full stomach – and promptly turned to my boyfriend and said "What is this? We have to go in!"
Little Creatures Dining Hall Packed At Night
The atmosphere at this place is contagious.The relaxed but upbeat music thumped out to the street outside, and I was lured into a huge, warehouse style dining hall/bar with modest yet visually impressive décor. Everyone eating seems happy and I couldn't help but smile. The place is busy yet in the 4 times I have visited I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table.
The standout on the menu is obviously the large variety of beer – all Little Creatures beer from Fremantle, Western Australia. I have also visited the Little Creatures Dining Hall in Perth and while I found a similar quality of service and food, the atmosphere is nowhere near as buzzing as the Fitzroy location. The food is your usual pub fare with a large variety of pizzas and tapas – they also offer taster glasses of beers if you (like me) have no idea about beers and want to sample before you commit to a pint/pot.
The food is moderately priced but there is a bar if you would prefer to just drink and soak up the atmosphere. If you want to dine you can sit in the "industrial-chic" hall area or around the side in comfy couches by a roaring fire (in winter). Unfortunately there is no smoking area, however this is about the only thing I can say to fault this unique dining experience.
Little Creatures is casual yet a little bit fancy, with industrial yet kitsch décor and a menu which is standard with a bit of tapas/wine bar thrown in. I would recommend Little Creatures Dining Hall to anyone wanting to spend a Sunday afternoon in a great atmosphere which makes you feel a lot better about midday drinking!
