Made in Africa offers a range of African goods located under one roof. Dark wood carvings, leather purses, masks and bamboo furniture are some of the finds amongst the selection of home wares, clothing, gifts, spices and Fair Trade coffee. And if all that shopping has worked up an appetite, stop in at the cafe/restaurant for an inexpensive meal.
For an authentic African meal (one that you can eat with your hands), try
Mu'ooz Eritrean Restaurant. The food is cheap, the restaurant gives refugees employment opportunities and all the proceeds go back into the Eritrean community. Everyone's a winner.
The African Clothing Store, also located in Ranchhod Arcade, offers a rainbow selection of tie-dyes and brightly coloured fabrics. And Yes Halal Butcher (
152 Beaudesert Road) serves meat that can be consumed according to Islamic law.
