1. There are plenty of bargains to go around.

Trestle table upon trestle table is piled high (and restocked), often with multiple copies of items. Serious shoppers bring suitcases rather than bags and take advantage of the shopping trolleys available to load up with bargains. However, if your approach is more on the reserved side, you can always purchase a Bookfest bag.



2. There is something for everyone.
Exhibition halls are divided into High Quality (prices as marked), $2.50 and $1 sections. ($1 paperbacks are great for summer reading in the pool). Genres include paperback fiction, classics/literature, science fiction, children's/young adult, reference, cooking, biography and rare/collectables. And it's not just books; there are puzzles/games, comics, DVDs and even sheet music.





3. It is all in the name of charity.
Proceeds go to help fund Lifeline's many counselling services across the state.

4. Getting there is easy.
For a fee, parking is available beneath the Convention Centre. Alternatively you can catch a QR Citytrain to South Brisbane Station or take a bus to the Cultural Centre Bus Stop.

5. It's an outing as much as a sale
Some people bring folding chairs to sit, read and wait for their companions. Some venture to the café for a mid-sale break and to take advantage of the Convention Centre's free wifi. And everyone gets to listen to the often humorous 'store' announcements advertising stock, seeking lost grandmothers or telling friends to check their texts already.
