As I explore more of Racecourse Road in Ascot on the North side, I find myself on a Sunday afternoon at a trendy cafe named The .



The Lido; a Modern Australian restaurant, provides a wide and might I mention yummy sounding range of dishes from hearty meals to delightful crispy pizzas. Fortunately my lunch date and I knew exactly what we were after, had we not, it would have been traumatising wading through the choices. Frequent chats with the darling European waiters who will put ham on a Margarita pizza for you (which I recommend), tasty appetisers, flowing drinks and sun gleaming through the shades make for an enjoyable experience.

Sit outside Alfresco style, or settle inside in the jazzy interior with comfy couches and a warm and friendly atmosphere guaranteed to keep you around long enough for dessert. The Lido has a classy feel, yet bustling families are often spotted enjoying food together and the welcoming staff provide a sense of community. Now the prices are a little above average, as Ascot appears to be that sort of "trendy", but If you share with a friend or two and split the bill it's well worth the money. Definitely head up to the top of Racecourse Road on the weekend; Saturday, breakfast, lunch or dinner and Sunday for breakfast or lunch, hang with the locals and don't forget to help yourself to a free jelly bean afterwards.
