No longer just a place to borrow books, your local
Brisbane City Council library offers a huge range of interesting, fun and informative events and services.
The libraries run regular seminars on a host of different topics from sustainable living to computer skills, self-defence to the music industry. Learn how to start a veggie patch in you own backyard (or even on your balcony), or how to create a
Flickr website to store and display your photos. Develop skills to defend your personal safety, or gain an insight into the music industry. Whatever it is you are interested in, there is something to suit you.
In addition to these seminars there are, as you would expect, a number of happenings that relate to reading and books; most of the libraries have regular book clubs that are open to anyone, as well as talks by local and international authors. Check out the
website for a full list of events and courses.
If you haven't been to your local library recently, I would suggest that a visit is well overdue.
