We were searching for a good cafe near Central Station and we came across a delicious-looking image in one of the Surry Hills cafe reviews.

Since, we were already in the vicinity of the area and thought we could check it out ourselves.

With address in one hand and GPS in the other, we thought we should arrive within minutes from Central Station.
"Do you see it?"
"Nah, I don't see it. I think it's way further up the road."
"But GPS says it's right here."

We both looked around for number 83 on Foveaux St.
"There!"
%% "Where?
No way! That IS a cafe?!"%%

Look hard for this cafe, it really has a tatty and unassuming exterior. A large aged-brown awning blocked half of the Cafe's frontage. It is located right next to the Surry Hills Taxi garage depot but easily a miss-and-pass location.

Anyhow, we did find the reclusive cafe and I can tell you that it was a nice little gem-find, too.

Le Monde is well-known for their award-winning coffee and their focus on breakfast/brunch/lunch meals. The feature wall was plastered with their multi-award winning certificates and recommendations.

While it looked inconspicuous from the outside, it has a nice set up inside.

There were plenty of magazines and newspapers for people to browse through while waiting for their coffee order.

My friend ordered the classic French Croque Monsieur ($15). It was served with Black Forest gypsy ham, Hollandaise sauce, gruyere cheese, fried egg and cashew pesto.

Le Monde creatively turned a simple classic French breakfast into something quite extraordinary.

It was deliciously tasty and the combination of the premium ingredients really set it apart and took it to the next level.

Would you look at that golden egg yolk ooze?

The sandwich was just superbly good.

The potato rosti ($16) was a tower of goodness. This stunning brunch dish was brimming with all the nicety delights that I absolute adore.

Crispy potato rosti patties topped with smoked salmon, sauteed green spinach and a globe of wobbly poached egg drizzled in creamy hollandaise sauce. It was elegantly garnished with pistachio and feta.

The poached egg was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of gooeyness.

It got to be one of the best stacks of heaven.
It definitely made me smile.

These brunch dishes were utterly delicious and exceeded my expectations. The price was decent and affordable.

The customer service was friendly and approachable. Even though it was my first visit here, they certainly did make me feel like a valued customer.

Seriously, come here for a great cup of coffee and an amazing meal.
