Acland Street in St Kilda is known for its enticing window displays of creamy, chocolatey delights, and this continental cake shop is no exception with its rows of slices, tarts and tempting confections.

The bakery cafe makes quite a claim though, of having the best vanilla slice in Victoria - while Le Bon makes a better effort than some others upholding that assertion, The French Lettuce in Carlton is still the one to beat in the first class custard slice stakes.

They don't look like any vanilla slices I've ever seen or made!

Peering at this photo, I would say those Le Bon vanilla slices don't look all that custardy - definitely not on a par with the custard-slice-shrine of the French Lettuce. Having said that, though, the cakes in the pic do look rather tempting, particularly those tart creations at the top.
