For a slap-up meal with generous portions and a serve of Aussie humour, Lazy Moe's restaurants will not disappoint.

Lazy Moe's restaurants.

Lazy Moe's is family-friendly, with their restaurants having tables large enough for the whole extended family. They are fairly relaxed and always happy to move around tables, and have both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The antithesis of fine dining, don't go to Lazy Moe's in search of small portions of top dollar culinary creativity - their style is basic, cheap and plentiful.

Embracing the inner bogan in all of us, Lazy Moe's encompasses the philosophy of "she'll be right mate". Before you peruse their menu, you can take the "Is there a Moe at your table?" quiz printed on the front. The quiz questions poke lighthearted fun at the typical bogan, asking if you're always eyeing off the food other people order or enjoy double dipping. On each table is a form inviting customers to submit a joke, with the winning entry each week being written up on a blackboard to be giggled or groaned at by all visitors to Lazy Moe's. The winner receives a Lazy Moe's voucher, so make sure to brush up on your lame jokes.

The humour continues inside the menu, with an entertaining description written below each item. They have quite an extensive menu, so it's easy to find something for most people. Favourite pasta dishes such as bolognese, marinara, carbonara and canneloni are available, all for under twenty dollars per serve. Asian style noodle dishes, burgers, seafood and even salads are all available. They also have many different variations on the simple spud, including the Italian spud, Hawaiian spud and vegie spud. Nothing on the menu exceeds thirty dollars, with most items being around fifteen dollars.

For breakfast, the menu primarily consists of a variety of omelettes, toast, sausages - the greasy deliciousness you would crave the morning after a big night out. You can even order an early-morning lasagne. They also serve pancakes all day long, in interesting flavours such as banana and walnut, hot fudge and strawberry. They don't skimp on extras, serving their pancakes with ice cream, or plain cream if you prefer.

While most dishes available at Lazy Moe's would be eagerly devoured by kids, they also have a kids' menu, with nine dollar mains that come with a side of chips.

If you have room for a dessert after gorging yourself on the deliciously carb-filled offerings of Lazy Moe's, they have a selection of rich chocolate and sugary cream cakes. In my experience, consuming dessert after one of their massive meals has always been a distant dream.

Considering their portion sizes far exceed the appetites of most people, Lazy Moe's is ideal for large groups to order a few dishes to share. They are also happy to package up your unfinished food to take home.

There are four Lazy Moe's restaurants in Melbourne; in Tullamarine, Maribyrnong, Oakleigh and Melton. While they are most popular for dinner, all stores are also open for lunch and late breakfast. Bookings can be made, but are not required.

That breakfast looks...amazing. I haven't had breakfast yet today, and now I want to go find a Lazy Moe's just for that...
Who doesn't love "carb-filled offerings" in winter? I know I do!
I'm always pleasantly shocked when I hear that places still offer to package up unfinished food. So many places refuse to do it, which is really wasteful and ridiculous... So many great-sounding things about this restaurant chain, I'll definitely have to pop in in the near future.
Thanks for writing such a thorough review of the restaurant.
