Earlier this week, Weekend Notes caught up with brave comedienne Lisa-Skye to find out what makes her tick.
What made you write the show? Turning 30 and getting married last year, I started copping a lot of flak for what I was 'meant' to be doing: 'You're married now, you can't do that' 'You're 30 now, you can't say that'. SO I wanted to look at pleasure: who gets it, why and how. Then of course, since I'm a filthy hedonist, it just degenerated into a lot of fun.
How long have you been performing Lisa? Forever, but I've been doing festival shows since 2008. This is my fourth MICF, but second solo.
So, what are your plans for the future? I'm cooking up something a little bit amazing for Melbourne Fringe ... follow me on Facebook or twitter to keep tabs on the ridiculous fun!
Ladyboner is a show fixed on exploring pleasure. Prepare to be confronted, prepare to feel uncomfortable, this show is not for provincial thinkers.
It talks about the sex industry, it talks about Jesus, it talks about being happily childless, it talks about boners. As confronting as this show could be for many audience members, I'd like to see Lisa-Skye take the material even further.
Whether it's spinning yarns about her home, which she refers to as a 'wog house' or sharing stories about her 'very Greek' Nan, who speaks little English but barracks for The Collingwood Football Club, Lisa-Skye will have you in stitches.
With only three more shows to go. Grab your tickets online now. Ladyboner is not to be missed.
