102 varieties of tequila behind the bar, a cocktail list as long as my left arm and a menu of fresh Mexican delights - La Cholita is the place to be.

For months, every time I've been to Northbridge for a dinner or event I've walked past La Cholita and been filled with this feeling of exhilaration thinking 'I need to go there' and last night, I finally did.

The atmosphere is somewhat infectious, as it's always packed with people and has this buzz about it (now I think about it, this could well be the result of their extensive range of tequila!). Warm drop lighting, dark wood and the woodfire oven contrast against edgy artwork and decor, which combine to give the place a casual, inviting, funky feel.


The food menu almost gets lost next to the wine, cocktail and tequila list but should absolutely not be discounted. The menu is modern Mexican and really fresh. There are a variety of smaller, entrees, tostadas and single soft tacos that are great for sharing and some larger more substantial options too.

My friend and I chose to go tapas style and chose a few dishes to share which worked out to be quite affordable. On this occasion no alcoholic beverages were sampled (although I shall surely be going back for some tequila tasting!) and dinner for two came to $50 which is great value for a delicious, mid-week meal with a friend.
