Kurnell Beach is a Sydney beach located to the South in the Suthlerland Shire. The Beach is part of a wider Penninsula which is well known for the exceptional number of activities which are allowed.
There are so many things to do on this stretch of beach and yet it truly is a relatively unknown treasure to many of Sydney's city dwellers. There is, famously, horse riding and surfers should check out Voodoo Point east of Bate Bay on the Kurnell peninsula for one of the best left hand barrels in the world.
Kurnell even boasts some fabulous scuba diving opportunities and for land lovers – rock fishing. Kurnell Beach itself is a great spot for tanning, swimming, snorkeling, fishing or a leisurely walk,
It is only a short drive from the beach to Quibray & Weeney Bays (part of the Penninsula) which form part of the largest wetland in Sydney where you can spot wading and shore birds which fly in from as far as Russia!
Historically Kurnell is also very significant being the site of Captain James Cook's first landing in Oz. More recently, the imposing sand dunes on the Kurnell Pennisula have been featured in films such as Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome and Phar Lap.
