Kuril Dhagun

Home > Things to do in Brisbane > Museums | Exhibitions
Published December 6th 2010
Kuril is a marsupial that is found near the State Library of Queensland (Stanley Street, South Brisbane), while dhagun means earth or place, so Kuril Dhagun means, literally, kuril place. Less literally, it is also known as part of the Indigenous Knowledge Centres network throughout Queensland.

The Kuril Dhagun indigenous network can be found on level one of the State Library. It is a hub for presentation and exploration of indigenous cultures and provides exhibits and activities for visitors of all ages. Programs like A Night by the Fire and Yarnin Time recognise the oral tradition of indigenous history. Both events are hosted by indigenous personalities and involve fictional and non-fictional stories about indigenous life.

Kuril Dhagun is open to indigenous and non-indigenous residents who are interested in learning more about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
