Kraken: A Mid-Winters Blaze

The good people at Blazing Swan have organised a mid-winters blaze to be held at Bathers Beach in Fremantle on 22 July.

Named the Kraken, this free family-friendly event, will have market and food stalls as well. There will be music and art on the beach sand from 3.00pm to 9.00pm.

The Kraken effigy will be set alight at sunset (around 5.30pm) for all to enjoy.

Blazing Swan is WA's regional Burning Man event, who is bringing theme camps, music and art from its creative community. Together with the City of Fremantle, Kraken is a community event like no other.

Blazing Swan is a not for profit organisation which organises a local Burning Man event held annually at Kulin in the Wheatbelt area of WA. This is inspired from the Burning Man events started in the United States. They aim to organise and promote local festivals to support local artists through the medium of fire.

Blazing Swan is understood not as an event, but as referring to a way of life lived consistent with their principles of being open to all with self-expression and civic responsibility and respecting the environment. They are meant to be taken as a whole, as a set of commonly understood values.
