Young and coffee in varying degrees, Kat also says stuff @ThoroughlyMode

Need cake fast – for yourself or for someone else? Who should you call in a cake related emergency = Konditer and Cook, 'cause these guys know a lot more than a thing or two about cake, and they have a Cake Hotline: 0800 319 6767 on which you can call them to have them BRING CAKE to YOU.

The headline itself is impressive, but it's not just the gimmick of their commitment to help with any cake based emergency that makes them worth a mention. They well and truly put their baking talent where your mouth is, creating mouth-and-eye-wateringly good cakes and other treats – mostly sweet but with some savouries too.

Their signature dish, if they have one are, their 'magic cakes' – tiny squares of cakey wonderfulness that come in a range of colourful designs and patterns. You can use them en mass as a patchwork of cake, already neatly cut up, you can use them to spell out a message, or you can just give a single, aptly patterned one on its own. Their other specialities are a bit too numerous to mention, but the K&C website says their Curly Whirly chocolate and vanilla sponge is their best seller, followed by the Lemon Chiffon, Dark Chocolate Sponge and then Carrot Cake. That's not taking into account their tarts, various brownies, giant meringues and other concoctions too wonderful to describe fairly without more pictures and taste testing...

London has six K&Cs now, all of varying shapes and sizes, but all in their signature colour purple, and all of them serve decent coffee as well as cake and other treats.
