Having seen a pretty extensive makeover a couple of years ago, the
Kings Cross Hotel has, luckily considering the cash that would have gone into it, scrubbed up quite tastefully. In previous years I would never have considered going in there, but now the Balcony Bar is a bit of a winner and a really great place to start the night. As you perch at the balcony bar with the outdoor heaters for those cooler nights, you can do some serious people watching over Darlinghurst Road. Quite different from what you get at a
Kings Cross Walking Tour.
Not only can you look down below on all that the
The Golden Mile has to offer, but you also get an unobstructed, eye-level view of that
Coke Sign. If you head over to the bar and order one of the many, not wholly-inexpensive drinks available, then you get a pretty awesome peek at Sydney's glorious CDB skyline though the behind the bar window.
There are a few levels which aim to cater to all tastes including the balcony bar, the club level and the run of the mill street bar. The lifts scuttle up and down ferrying people coming and going, complete with light show in the evening! The balcony bar is my pick of the joint. It somehow doesn't feel like you're in The Cross when you're at The Kings Cross Hotel, with its tasteful décor, friendly bar staff and great atmosphere; however with that view, how can you forget!
