Recently voted the South Burnett's best family friendly park and picnic area, Memorial Park in Kingaroy is a clear favourite with both locals and visitors alike. Centrally located close to the main street and shopping centre, Memorial Park has much to offer both the young and young at heart.

The fenced off playground area has recently received an upgrade including shade sails, new playground equipment and a sheltered picnic table and chairs, for parents to be able to supervise their children in comfort. The fence is childproofed safety fence, so no fear of little one's escaping on to the road, and there's plenty of parking right the way around the entire park.

Spanning an area the size of a city block, with wide open spaces, large enough to kick a football, to tree lined picnic tables and chairs offering some much needed shade, the park has something for all age groups. Including newly installed exercise stations which cater to all levels of fitness, or even those who just like to put some fun in their workouts.

Since 1932 he park has been home to the WWI War Memorial and band rotunda, which lists the names of all the areas the ANZACS fought in World War 1. To the west of the rotunda is the Stone of Remembrance honoring those who served from World War I to Vietnam. All ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services are held at this location.

Amongst the other recent upgrades, the park also received a brand new unisex rest room facility, close to (but not too close to) the coin operated BBQ area and picnic tables on the William Street side of the park. With the exception of the rotunda the entire area has disabled access, with cobblestone pathways the length of the park.

If you are enjoying a picnic on one of the many tables dotted throughout the park, keep an eye out for the friendly Noisy Miner birds, who are not at all afraid to help themselves to your goodies. And if all the sunny Queensland weather gets too much for you, the park adjoins the local swimming pool complete with 7 lane 50 metre outdoor pool, children's outdoor wading pool, and indoor heated learn to swim pool. There's even a beach volleyball court for the seriously energetic.

So whether you are looking for some fun in the sun with the children, or just wanting to spend some quiet time out in nature, Memorial Park has it all. It's more than big enough that if crowds aren't quite your thing, there are plenty of quiet little spots under shady trees, or just walking amongst the flower gardens. From getting some exercise, to just kicking back relaxing, there really is something for everyone.
