Unless you have been living under a rock for the past decade or so, you would have heard of, and possibly purchased an Entertainment Book. Fantastic value for people who love to eat out and spend money, the Entertainment Book consists of predominantly adult-focussed destinations.

That's great until your definition of a good night out changes from an 8pm start, three course meal, concert and early morning drinks to a 4pm start, spaghetti and ice-cream for everyone, no expensive glasswear on the tables and everyone home and in bed by 6.30pm. Suddenly the $80 Entertainment Book isn't such good value.

This is why the $20 Kidzabuzz book has been designed specifically for families and the 2011-2012 version has just come out full of family-focussed, child-friendly and budget-conscious things to do, with barely a late night in sight.

Now in its fifth year, Kidzabuzz was designed and developed by a Perth couple with two young boys who saw the need for a coupon book exclusively for families.

So what exactly do you get? The book has over 360 vouchers and includes sections on aqua and indoor play centres, animals and petting zoos, birthday parties, photography, toys and gifts, restaurants, movies and child-friend holidays. If you are a new parent, this is a great way to find out what services are available out there, and every suburb from north to south is represented.

Want to take the kids to Rottnest for the day? Get 20% off ferry fares.

40 degree day and you want to take the kids swimming? Head to Bayswater Waves or Beatty Park for a 2 for 1 entry.

Older kids? Take them to Supa Golf in the Swan Valley for 25% off.

Haven't got the kids Christmas presents yet? Head to Trover Learning for 20% off.

Tired from all this running around? Head to Muzz Buzz for a buy one get one free coffee.

Tired of the kids in general? Leave them at the movies ($10 tickets at Movie Masters) and head to one of the many day spas and salons that feature in the 'For the grown-ups' section.

All vouchers are valid until November 2012 and with part proceeds from each book going to Telethon it's hard not to agree that it is excellent value.

Kidzabuzz books are available at Australia Post outlets, dozens of Perth shops , or online .
