is definitely different. You probably wouldn't have heard of it, and I only stumbled upon it accidently while strolling down Soi 11, Nimmanhaemin Road.

The restaurant is hidden behind a wall of greenery and only revels itself in the form of the colourful boards displaying its name and the restaurant's fare.

I was drawn in by its declaration that it sells Vegetarian food - among other things. Upon perusing the menu I almost gave up, but consultation with the waiter revealed that they had two separate menus - a regular and a vegetarian. Once I got hold of the vegetarian menu I I realised that there was a fair selection.

For sure, all the food I tried here was flavoursome, although some reviews you will find online beg to differ. Service is admittedly slow and basic, however, so this is a better place to visit if you have a little more time on your hands.

If this is the case, it's not a bad place to spend a leisurely afternoon. The space is semi-outdoor, with encroaching greenery and pretty water features that create a soothing visual and a soft ambient sound.

Speaking of sounds, soft cafe or jazz music plays and this adds to the slower feel of this restaurant. Do bring some bug spray, though, because like some outdoor restaurants in Chiang Mai, mosquitoes can be an issue.

Quirky in its own way, the restaurant has a lot of vintage items around it's walls and on cabinets including collectible toys, bottles from old discontinued products, teddies and other odds and ends. All this helps to lend a little nostalgic atmosphere to the place - and gives you something to look at while you wait for your order.

Dishes to try include the mushroom steak and the mushroom curry. Both of these dishes make the most of mushrooms as meat substitutes with their firm texture and a strength of flavour.

Definitely feel comfortable ordering more than one dish if you are hungry though as portions are definitely smaller than you can expect in Chiang Mai normally. It's also worth noting that the fruit juices on the menu are not fresh, but from concentrate.

The spot is probably a good choice for groups considering there is space and the option to put tables together. It's also rarely busy here so it is ideal if you want to escape a little. Good for vegetarians going out to eat with their meat-eater friends, as well, as there will be plenty of choices for both.

There's parking space outside, which can be rare on the slightly cramped streets of Chiang Mai - so this is a clear plus.

This is definitely not a my first choice for vegetarian food in Chiang Mai, as the standard of vegetarian food in this city is extremely high. But in saying that, they still serve decent food and it's great to have another vegetarian option just off Nimmanhaemin road.
