Located in Macquarie Centre food court, Ken's Bento Box is a great place to stop by for lunch. They sell sushi, noodles and a variety of Japanese dishes. They also have a no-MSG policy in place, which is a fantastic health-conscious decision.

I decided to try the "Tokyo Express" bento box at Ken's, which had a nice balance of tastes.

For the meat dish, there was a choice of BBQ beef, spicy pork or sesame chicken, served on a bed of fried rice. I decided to go with the BBQ beef, which turned out to be a soy sauce-based dish. I quite liked it - the meat was soft and tasty without being too salty.

The vegetable section consisted of raw shredded cabbage, a slice of boiled carrot, a zucchini fritter, a piece of roast potato and a shitake mushroom. This wasn't the most flavourful way I've seen these vegetables prepared. Little seasoning was used, which meant that aside from the mushroom (which has a strong natural flavour), they tasted quite bland. However, mixing them in with the rice and beef did help.

A third section contained a couple of vegetable spring rolls and a dim sum, served with sweet chilli sauce.

The Tokyo Express bento box is a good quick lunch for someone on the go. Those in search of spicier or more flavourful tastes would be better looking elsewhere. However, the nice balance of meat and vegetables and A-plus presentation certainly spoke in its favour.
