Wind your way through mangroves in a four metre, double kayak dodging mud crab holes, branches and some fascinating bugs accompanied by fish that only disturbed the water to tease you in a picturesque part of national park called,
Jacobs Well.
Wear your boardies and a long sleeve, pack a light spray jacket, and your lifejackets. Think light about lunch along the lines of food that will last the day and easier to eat. Most importantly, don't leave home without a few bottles of water and a charged mobile phone. Sunscreen and an easy to wear-while-paddling hat are also essential.
A map of the area will make life so much easier, and the way back stress-free when one mangrove starts looking very similar to the last one you just paddled past.
Pulling up in the shallows and plonking the picnic on the nose of your kayak keeps that "we're out and about" feeling to the day. Stop, eat, drink and re-apply the sunblock and then get on with the exploring.
There's so much to see. You'll come across some great birdlife, fish, and crabs. It's a fun and romantic way to spend half a day for couples who are into mother nature. Or go single and make your paddle a little more robust for the hard core kayakers who like to sweat it out rather than make out.
